All users running XP Sp2 or Vista with Office 2007 and Norton Internet
Security. Nobody can connect to the machine with the database. Only if I
disable all firewalls. I have opened port 56183 for Outlook.exe on both
remote and local machines - send and receive.

What process needs to have port 56183 opened? What are the general firewall
rules that will allow machines to connect to each other and share the BCM
database?

56183 is the tcp port that the sql server instance (sqlserver.exe
process) with BCM databases uses. The clients don't connect to each
other. The clients all connect to the server in a classic client/
server schema, despite the term peer-to-peer having been used in this
forum a few years ago.
