Despite checking out all the documenation I cannot find a simple explanation
as how to link my Laptop to my network (peer to peer) so that I can take away
a synchronised copy.

Any body found any documentation onm this?

Perhaps this article could help you get started:

"To install Windows Peer-to-Peer Networking after Windows XP SP2 is
installed, do the following:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. In Components, click Networking Services (but do not select its check
box), and then click Details.
4. Select the Peer-to-Peer check box, and then click OK.
5. Click Next, and then follow the instructions in the wizard."

Hi the question was how does one get BCM to work where a synched copy can be
taken away on my laptop over a peer-to-peer network. This is all about BCM in
this thread so I did not think I had to exapnd the question.

If it is bcm update then go to business tools and you have share option to
share the database but before that you need to make sure that both the
computer are able to see each other in the network.once it is done use the
computer name to share the database on the other computer

If you are using Business Contact Manager 2003 Update, you will be able to
connect to BCM database residing on another machine given that database has
been shared by it's owner with client user. On client BCM, you will need to
provide machine name where database exist and it will automatically show the
database in next dropdown. However, you will not be able have synced copy of
database on client machine.

Good news is .. in Business Contact Manager 2007 Beta you are able to setup
remote BCM database for Offline use. Doing will create a local copy on your
client. You will be able to work with this local copy and whenever there is
connection to remote copy, BCM will automatically detect and give you option
to sync the changes between remote copy and local copy.
