BCM Over Two Domains?

Within our orgnaisation we have two domain controllers within two servers.
We have BCM running on one machine (SBS2003) which is one domain controller
(i.e Domain 1).

The business contacts are shared out, using Outlook, on this machine and
every client machine on Domain 1 can access them.

However, we also need to provide access the BCM to clients logged onto
Domain 2, without them switching domains - an annoying process.

Is there a way to add users from another domain within the BCM access
configuration? It seems you can only add users who are part of the domain the
BCM database resides on, is this correct? It seems it is but I was wondering
if there was any way around this issue, particularly as the two domains are
on, in effect, the same physical network.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

Hi Ste

Is there a trust relationship between the two domains?
When you share BCM data that resides on a machine that is part of a domain,
you should be able to give rights to any user that resides in a trusted
domain.
If there is no trust, then the remote clients will have to log into Domain 1
or you will need to move the machines into a workgroup and then use
workgroup based users

Hope this helps!

However, it should work provided that there is a Trust Relation Ship
between this domians

ThanksLarry,

That is what i had feared, we are using SBS 2003 Standard on the machine
that is running the database and server 2003 on theother dmain controller

I believe that trusts cannot be done on SBS 2003 Standard, is this correct?
Would this be the only solution?

Hi Ste

I believe you are correct. Take a look at the following Link:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/technetmag/issues/2005/11/OnSite/default.aspx

Unfortunately I don't see a workaround. Either the domains have to trust
each other or you have to pull all of the BCM machines & Users out of the
Domain and into workgroups

Hope this helps
