I think I fell into a bear trap - please help me to a ladder!
I can't see any items in Outlook referring to BCM (eg in file > data file
management).
After installing BCM, on later accessing outlook, I was asked (words to the
effect of) "Do I want BCM to manage contacts for this profile?" I answered no
(as outlook 2003 was itself new to me, and I needed to orientate myself), but
reading other articles I now understand that installation may not therefore
be complete. There are no menu or help items in outlook related to BCM,
except that : Under Start > "all programs", BCM has 2 entries: BCM help and
tours.
BCM help has little content, referring to outlook menus or help items which
for me are absent. Outlook otherwise working fine. My outlook files appear to
be "97-2002".
BCM appears as a program that can be uninstalled from control panel, and is
NOT listed as a disabled item in Outlook 2003 Help > about.
Using Win XP Pro SP2 (upgraded from XP Home SP2), and office 2003 pro
upgraded from 2000 std; with office 2003 SP1 installed after BCM.
Using POP over dialup; no local network, not running a server.
No errors or warnings when upgrading office, installing .net framework, BCM
or office SP1.
