I have been using BCM sucessfully. I inadvertantly 'closed' the BCM folder
however in the 'folder list' of Outlook. All my BCM functions wnet away
appear and BCM is NOT listed as 'disabled' in the ABOUT funtion under Outlook
HELP. How do I reopen the BCM (and get back my 6 months of valuable data).
Per yr other postings I did check my registry setting mentioned several times
and it is set to '3'. Thanks in advance.

Did you try File | Data File Management, adding a new BCM data store, which
you can point to your existing database?

it does open up BCM (thanks for that) but BCM is empty. When 'adding a BCM
data store' there was no moment at which the user can point to the previous
files (which from what I see were in directory "C:\Documents and
Settings\current user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Business
Contact Manager). It doesn't give an opportunity to open my previous BCM
folder and I don't see how to redirect BCM to look at them

UPDATE: So once I slected the various components under 'Business Tools' in
teh tool bar...all seems well! With work more to check it throughly but this
item looks closed.

I also want to have the BCM database point to a previous BCM file. How did
you do this?

I can only add a 'new' BCM database and cannot force it to look at my
previous BCM file. I also cannot delete a new BCM database after it is
created, even when it is empty.

I copied my previous MSBusinessContactManager.ldf and
MSBusinessContactManager.mdf into C:\Documents and Settings\current
user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager
directory ( -- it would not let me overwrite the new (empty) BCM, so I added
a '...*2.ldf and '...*2.mdf'. And it would not find these previous files as
an 'existing' database file to use.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Dave.

Once I added the 'new' BCM database I slected the various components under
'Business Tools' in the tool bar...all was back (from the original BCM where
my previous data was stored)! I didn't move any files...it found the orginal
files itself. MS sure could make this a much less intense experience...am I
really the only one who ever closed the BCM from my Outlook folder list? ANd
I had done so becasue BCM makes Outlook very slow ...so I figured I could
open and close at will...nope. From now I'll just leave it open and live with
the performance hit.
