Out of the box, BCM doesn't work with Exchange or Small Business Server. If
you have an Exchange account or SBS account in the profile you're using, you
won't see the Business Tools menu. You'll need to download and install a
patch.
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=831747
Now, that patch will let you use BCM in a profile with a Small Business
Server Exchange account. There is one condition: That profile must be in
cached mode. You cannot use BCM in purely online SBS profile.
Officially, Microsoft doesn't support using BCM with an Exchange server
account. However, it is technically possible to do so. You'll have to edit
the registry to make BCM and Outlook think you're running against a Small
Business Server instead of a full Exchange Server. Instructions for editing
the registry can be found
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/bcm.htm.
WARNING: Using BCM with Exchange is an unsupported configuration. If you
choose to enable BCM with an Exchange account and have problems with BCM,
Microsoft PSS (Product Support Services) will probably be unable to help
you. Remember to back up your Business Contact Manager database often if
you're working in this configuration. While I haven't personally seen it
crash with data loss, there's always a first time!
