When backing-up CONTACTS.PST -> A:\;
How should the err: 'the file -----x--------, could not be opened'; be
'cured'?

Provide at least some information.
How did you back up your Contacts?
How are you trying to access them?
What Outlook version?

How did you back up your Contacts? -> (As outlined in Help) *File...sel.
Imp/Exp *sel. File typ =.pst, * sel. Loctn ->A:\, (floppy) !! ERR appears !!
How are you trying to access them? -> File...Imp/Exp
What Outlook version? -> OTLK 2000

Lack of a CD-Write - makes the Bckup add-on ... useless! I'm limited to
floppies.

Any help you can provide, is appreciated!

I've never seen a PST file small enough to be saved on floppies. How are you
managing to create a PST file less than 1.44 MB? You should not be using
exporting and importing. You should copy your data to PST files small enough
to fit on floppies. Close Outlook. Copy the PST file to the floppy.
Then when you need to access the PST file, return it to a hard drive, remove
its read only attribute, and open it in Outlook using the File > Open
command.

"How are you managing to create a PST file less than 1.44 MB?"
You seem to be unaware there're actually people stuck with floppies as the
only bckup medium.

Enacting the "Bckup Otlk Folders" on an OTLK 2000 pg, =
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/195782#toc ... I reach the final step - and
zappo - "File A:\ CONTACTSbckup.pst cannot be found"

How can I cure this?

I'm perfectly aware of the fact that a few people still use floppies. It
doesn't change the fact that PST files are rarely that small.
What part of my explanation did you not understand? You must not export
directly to a floppy (or any other storage medium). In fact, do not export
at all. Close Outlook. Use Windows Explorer to copy the PST file to the
storage medium. It's the only way that works reliably.
