I'm told I need to use BCDEdit.EXE to change boot information. I have set up
a dual boot system where XP was my old OS and Vista is the new OS. I would
like to JUST change the default boot OS from Vista to XP for the time being.
The instructions for the BCDEdit command lines are totally confusing to me.
Anyone out there that could tell me a simple way to change this would be
most appreciated.

Richard:

You should download a free program called VistaBootPro, which provides a
GUI interface to BCDEdit.exe.

Richard don't bother with BCDedit, instead download VistaBootPro
(www.vistabootpro.org) this by far the most user friendly boot editing
interface around.

If that is ALL you want to accomplish, you can do it from within Vista:
Control Panel/System/Advanced System Settings in the left pane/Startup and
Recovery-Settings Button/Default operating system from drop down list.

Otherwise, Vista Boot Pro or similar utility

I've used both and have no preference (except that VistaBootPro's website
was down for several hours one day and had to recommend EasyBCD so someone
could solve their problem).

Both are as good as each other. The end result is the same. It just so
happens that VistaBootPro is the one that is installed on my machine, so i
use that one the most.
