I send an email to a recipient and BCC it to several others. When the folks I
send the BBCs to get their copy the To: field is the name of the original
addressee. That is not the way it should be, is it? I thought all other
recipients addresses would be hidden (including that in the origianal To:
field).

Yes. If you want to hide all of them, put them all in bcc.

Correct - this is behaving as expected. Everyone who is bcc'ed will see any
address that's on the To or Cc lines, but will not see who else was Bcc'ed.

hope that helps!

Some anti spam programs regard mail where everyone is BCCed as spam.

I usually put myself in the TO and the others in the BCC.

Is there a way to make it so that it will *always* bcc an address? ie. I
like the emails I send to always bcc one of my emails for backup reasons. Is
this possible to do in Vista Mail?

Not automatically.

Perhaps using the Drafts folder. But one would need to change how one used
the program. Probably easier to add it each message (especially replies).

I just got a new computer w/Vista installed. I had been usinf XP. In XP, I
could type in Contacts so that ONLY the person's name appeared in the To:
area. Now, the entire name & addess show up. There is no "hide" feature -
at least, I can't find it! Is using the BCC the ONLY way to "Hide"
addresses? I just don't want to put everyone's info out there...

Thanks for any help!

The full name & email address is the only option.

You can use the BCC: field to hide the other email addresses. The recipient
only sees his own address.

Don't confuse what you (the composer) sees with what the
recipient sees.
The only difference between Windows Mail and Outlook Express
in this regard is that the composer sees both the name and the
email address in the 'To' line, thereby giving you the opportunity
to verify that you have picked the correct address for recipients
with multiple email addresses.

When addressing multiple recipients it is always better to use
BCC for the sake of privacy.

best to put your own address in the TO and use the Bcc for the list/group of the others.
