I have just brought a cable that connects my laptop to my tv using a scart lead. I thought it would just show what is on my screen without any problems, but it doesn't.

Do I need some sort of software to be able to do this?

I am attempting to watch iplayer on my tv.

My laptop is a Toshiba Portege Tablet, if that makes a difference...

Cheers

What sort of cable is it - S-Video to Scart? If so you might need to go to display properties in Windows and enable the display :)

I don't think you'll need to use an FN key for s-video, but if you happen to be using a VGA/DVI port to Scart adapter then you'll need to enable the external display by pressing the FN key + one of the F numbers (normally 4 or 8, I think).

When you plug the cables in do you still get a display on the laptop screen if? if so then you need to press FN and its either F5 or F6 to change the video out.

Hope this helps.

I have bought a 21 pin scart plug 15 pin high-density D connector.

When I start the pc with the cable plugged into what the monitor would normally connect into, and the other end plugged into the scart plug, it comes up with a black screen on the laptop and nothing on the tv screen.

When I plug the cable in when the laptop is already on it lets me see what is on the laptop, but still not on the tv. Not even any sound.

have you got a link to the lead?

you wont get sound over it as it only carries the video, you'll need either a seperate cable or to modify the lead you have

I've managed to get iPlayer on the TV from my IBM laptop in the past, but not using a SCART. I connected using a regular VGA lead from the laptop to TV (the one we've got can also be used as a monitor) and then connected the audio up separately.

Worked like a dream for me doing it that way
