I bought a copy of Battlefield 1942 on tuesday, 12 th
August, and formatted before I tried to even install it,
because other than my computer being completely cluttered
up beforehand, some games wouldn't run with little reason
(e.g. diablo 2) which would say, even with the cd in the
drive that it wasn't there, I've installed Battlfield
1942 twice and the first time I played with re-starting,
it worked, but now I can't even get it to do that, I
really need help damnit.
Also, when I start up my computer ' GMT.EXE ' crashes
four times, would this have anything to do with it? Will
using windows Repair of the cd destroy the patch that I
installed to stop Mblaster?

GMT.exe is part of Gator Spyware and it's crashing. Likely some patch,
registry cleaner, or spyware remover changed something the program needed
and now it's crashing. If you've got problems with MSblast and Spyware I'd
suggest reformatting the drive and reinstalling the OS. There is just too
many things wrong with your system at this point to guarantee any repair
will work as advertised.

However, if you absolutely refuse to re-install, you'll need to run a
spyware remover like SpyBot or AdAware and a virus scan and cross your
fingers that everything gets caught. I'd follow that up with a chkdsk /x on
the drive housing Windows XP or scandisk for Windows ME/98.

Thats part of the problem lol...
I formatted.. uhm... 3 days ago :P full format and
reinstall clean, but thanks for the advide.. the only
thing thats really annoying me now is that fact that some
screwed up thing wont let me play games. battlefield 1942
worked once and now dosen't open no matter which method I
try to do it with and dosen't come up with any errors or
anything of the sort, it just does nothing.
Diablo 2 comes up with an error telling me I lack the cd.
this is irritating.. I'll try virusscanning though.

If you did a clean re-install, did you re-install current drivers for ALL of
the various components?

In our last episode Luke.. was saying . . .
