I've been using pop/smtp for a while now successfully in Microsoft Mail.
Last night, I had unplugged the AC adaptor, forgot about it, went to bed,
then my computer shut itself down because the battery died.

I plugged in, powered back up, everything else is fine, internet connection
is fine, but all of a sudden Microsoft Mail won't send/receive emails any
longer. I get the following error:

Account: 'pop.danradcliffe.co.uk (1)', Server: 'pop.danradcliffe.co.uk',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC18

Does this just have something to do with a firewall or virus protection
resetting itself? I've tried turning my firewall off, then restarting
Microsoft Mail, and restarting my computer completely, but to no avail.

It could be that the mail server is down.. have you tried calling your mail
provider?

Try removing your mail account and closing and reopening WinMail and then
add it back again. It also looks like you may have two copies of the
account set up so remove both of them.
