severe gales

make sure your safe and check on vulnerable neighbours if you have any..

It's lashing it down in Manchester at the moment, got back from town about 30 mins ago and I'm soaking... There are even geese in our street looking for food, normally they don't venture past the canal banks!

soory Historian..i am a bad weather forcaster..coz you have 30 hrs to take all the neccesary measures ...70% risk of adverse winter storm conditions..:)

12 am Sunday night will get a bit scary ..so says Mr Met

I've ordered it remain dry for tomorrow, 'cos I'm off out ... if it do rain, I'll be havin a word with a particular bloke who thinks he owns the place. ;)

:D

Hi Rush.

Are you telling me that you actually beleive the weather forcasts?
I put it up there with astrology they are just quessing at what might happen.
It`s now 10.25. Still no rain and the wind seems to have calmed down.

Friday's radio suggested this would all kick off on Monday....
Hope we don't have trees ripped down again like the last bad episode...
Mucks, I'm with you mate...let's get this sorted out! ;)

Remember your computers!!!!

Also as a warning - and I think PSD can testify to this - this storm could well interupt power supplies and cause sudden PC shutdowns and resulting problems to those who don't have UPS backup.

If it looks like its getting that bad your way then I would seriously consider shutting them down properly before hand

My report

During Sunday evening, southwesterly winds will back southerly and increase, with gusts up to 70 mph expected during the early hours of Monday morning. Winds will veer southwesterly and moderate (for a time) from the west by dawn on Monday morning. A band of heavy rain will accompany the severe gales, the rain spreading eastwards across all parts on Sunday night and during the early hours of Monday morning, with 15 to 20mm of rain falling in just a few hours with local accumulations of up to 30mm by dawn on Monday. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads, and to the latest Environment Agency Floodline, and 'Flood Warnings in force'.
