Default groups on Windows 2000 Professinal SP4, IE6 are:

Administrators
Backup Operators
Guests
Power Users
Replicators
Users
Web Anonymous Users
Web Applications

The last two of those are for IIS and could be disabled using IIS Lockdown
tools.

control panel - administrative tools - computer
management - local users and groups - open "groups" folder-
open a group such as "users" - click the add button. you
will now see alist of local users and groups that can be
added to the "users" group. in my list i have a "batch"
group. i have system, i have everyone, authenticated
users, creator owner...but i also have "batch". and they
have me stumped.

Batch vs. Interactive

Think batch = automatic
Interactive = users is involved actively

The purpose of BATCH is as in described in link by Steven L Umbatch in
previous post. As it is defined by default BATCH group belongs to Users,
which have limited previleges, which is good. Don't mess with it, in
particular don't remove it, and don't give it more rights by placing it into
Power Users or Administrators. I have BATCH group as well.
