i just built my mom a computer with windows xp. she knows absolutely nothing
about computers. i could barely teach her to get online and send/receive
email. does anyone one know a decent site or maybe an interactive CD or
something that i can direct her to or get for her?

I know XP has built in training programs. Might want to check those out to
start.

Although it will probably be difficult to get your mother to do this
(at least it has been for mine), the best way to get your mother
knowledgeable about computers and operating systems is to have her seek
out friends or classes for seniors. Verbal instruction over the phone
can become a career choice for you. There are many who are willing to
help if the student is willing to seek the help. Good luck.

hahahaha, not a chance my mother would do anything that was for seniors.
she's still a few years away from 60 but doesn't even like to admit she's
left her 40s. have to do something though, she can't even get to that widows
introduction unless i take her to it step by step. i'm not even sure she
understands yet that everything on the internet isn't all owned by one big
company like aol.

Get her to play the in-built games like solitaire.Without knowing it
this trains people in the use of the mouse and their techno-fear
subsides :O)

The best answer is if a local college, high school, or a city Community
Center offers Adult computer classes. Hands on teaching is by far the best.

Hey you made it further than I did, my Mom is scared to turn it on and can't
figure out how to move the mouse to get the arror to move! I figured it was
better for both of us if she didn't bother. BTW my mom's 82 so maybe
someone 20 years younger would have better luck? If she can learn how to do
e-mail, you're doing pretty good!
