Basic use/backup of Registry Editor and GPO, GPMC ?

Hi all,

Can anyone guide to the correct link for me to the introduction basic
of registry editor and GPO , GPMC?
I am trying to make some minor changes to some registry key
such as in this link
http://www.petri.co.il/disable_writing_to_usb_disks_in_xp_sp2.htm

Where is also the correct forum/newsgroup for XP share computer toolkit ?

It would be very useful if someone can direct me to (the web link)
on the foolproof backup and restore of all the registry values setting
before I make any changes, just in case
Also where is the correct place/forum to ask such issue ?

Where is the Group Policy newsgroup ? I dun seem to be able to locate
it . can you pls provide the link.
