Basic questions on auto-advance, narration, loop

I've done many basic presentations, but I just got volunteered to do one that
is over my head, though I'm sure there are basic techniques for it. I would
like to put together about a 10-minute slide show that:

1. is self-advancing, from one slide to the next,
2. includes a voice-over narration that is keyed to the slides, and at the end
3. loops and starts itself over.

Could someone possibly point me to basic tutorials on how to accomplish
this, or explain it to me?

I'm using PP 2000 SP 3. I'd like to stick with this version, but I can
upgrade if necessary or if it would make the process qualitatively easier.

Thanks,

To self-advance, set the slide transitions to advance automatically at a
number of seconds you specify by typing in the "advance automatically after"
box. You can leave the option to advance on mouseclick if you want, but that
means your audience might skip some of the slides and/or narration.

For the voiceover part, is someone providing you with a sound file (or,
ideally, a bunch of individual sound files -- one for each slide), or do you
have to record it?

For starting over, you can go to Slide Show|Set up Show and click "loop
until escape." You can also set up the file to be browsed in "kiosk mode,"
which removes the ability to advance on mouse click. It means you must use
automatic slide transitions or navigation buttons.

Hi Echo S,

This is very helpful. Unfortunately, I have to record everything myself. How
should I do this?
Thanks,

Click Slide Show > Record Narration. Click ok and you will go into slide
show. You can then start recording your narration. Once you are done with the
current slide, left click to proceed to the next slide. Once you are all
done, PowerPoint will prompt you to save the slide timings as well. The slide
timing will be the timing on the slide transition's advance slide, hence, you
do not have to set it manually.

There is an option to "record narrations" on the Slide Show menu. Use that.
It will probably be the easiest thing for you to deal with all the way
'round.

You'll won't want to set up the automatic slide transitions if you use
Record Narrations, because the recording process will add an automatic
transition time for you. So just advance manually when you record the
narrations.

Don't do the "rehearse timings" thing that is also under the slide show
menu. Narrations and "rehearse timings" don't work well together.
