Basic problems trying to update the bios on windows 2000/AOpen Motherboard

Hi there,


I get confused in my attempts to upgrade the bios on a AX3S-U Aopen
motherboard and windows 2000 OS (in fact the computer has also a linux
partition).

This is the first time i want to perform that operation, because of
some bugs.

1. I read in the motherboard manual, download the last bios upgrade on
aopen website and have to:

"Reboot the system to DOS mode with loading any memory handler or
device handler"

I don't know how to do this?

2. I understood there was another way to do it, with a software called
ProMagic/EzRestore, downloaded from AOpen. I launch the setup.exe
program and get that curious message:

"In order to install that software, you have to enabled "EzRestore" in
the Advanced BIOS Features under CMOS. Do you want to restart the
computer now to change the setting?"

I click Ok, restart the computer, enter the BIOS setup and go to the
"Advanced BIOS Features" section. But i can't find any value where to
enable EzRestore?

Any ideas?

First, go to this site and read the info:

Then go to http://www.bootdisk.com/ that is referenced in the article and
grab a bootdisk image that will create an old DOS boot disk. Follow all
instructions and when you get to being able to lash your BIOS, make sure you
let it complete before you touch anything (like the reset button).
