Greetings All

Quick question. I am trying to rename a slide in the outline tab without having a title text box on the actual slide. Is this possible in PowerPoint XP? Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers!

Yes. Just drag the title text box off of the slide and it will not display
during show mode.

Greetings and thanks for your quick response

However, I was really looking to not have the title Text Box exist at all. Any ideas

Greetings and thanks for your quick response!
However, I was really looking to not have the title Text Box exist at all.
Any ideas?

The title text box is where PPT gets the text for the outline pane on the
left. No title text, no text in outline pane.

Is there some reason why text off screen is a problem?

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the capability to have a slide title appear in the
outline pane unless the text for that slide title is also in the Title
placeholder for the slide. That title placeholder doesn't have to be within
the slide area (as others have indicated in previous responses to this
message thread).

You can move the "Title Area for Autolayouts" outside of the slide area on
the Slide Master for your presentation so that you don't have to move it
manually for each slide in your presentation. And, if you only want this
for some slides in your presenation and you are using PowerPoint 2002 or
PowerPoint 2003 you can take advantage of the Multiple Masters feature to
have two slide masters that are identical in all ways except that for one
of them the "Title Area for Autolayouts" is within the slide area (for
slides that you want a visible title in the slide and outline) and for the
other one the "Title Area for Autolayouts" is outside the slide area (for
slides where you want the title only visible in the Outline pane.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that PowerPoint
should include some kind of feature which makes possible to create outline
paneTitles for slides (without having to require that the slides actually
include a Title placeholder), don't forget to send your feedback to
