I'm new to networking and I have a basic question about mapping drives.
Lets say I have 2 computers.
CompA, and CompB to keep it simple.
If your on CompB how do you refer back to CompA in mapping.

\\CompA\C:\PS\data.mdb

is tis right?

I know with sharing, if I were sharing the PS directory it would be...
\\CompA\PS\data.mdb

But I need mapping.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

When you MAP you are assigning a drive letter to a remote share.

Thanks,
2 good links! So unfortunatly I'm still confused on how I can spell out
at mapped drive, I need to refer to a computer...

ComputerName\Drive\Directory\File

this works...
C:\Directory\file

this doesn't...
ComputerName\c:\Directory\file

this doesn't...
\\ComputerName\c:\Directory\file

this works only when connected...UNC
\\ComputerName\Directory\file

I need to be ableto spell it out as such...
ComputerName\c:\Directory\file

Thanks
DS
