Basic FP2002 permissions question

Greetings. Here's my scenario: I have a personal website I am
administering with FP2002. I have created the following web folder...

http://www.Organization.com/MyFolder

.... in which I have placed 10 basic html pages. I have set unique
permissions on this folder, so I am prompted for a username and
password any time I type in the above URL. So far so good. The problem
is that when I type the URL including the names of one of the html
files in the folder (eg,
http://www.Organization.com/MyFolder/MyDoc.htm) the page opens up
without any security prompt. How can I ensure that the folder *and* all
contents are password protected?

Thank you in advance.

Does your host support unique permissions?

Do you have access to your account control panel eg HELM, CPanel etc, in
which there might be options to protect files/folders?

What operating system is your host using? Linux or Windows? On Linux, you
could use .htaccess and .htpasswd. (google for these terms).

On Windows, there's a similar idea (IISpassword I think it's called).

It brings up the logon box (standard windows dialogue type box).

Check with your host about these.

Try closing down IE and/or your PC and then try access a page. Once you have enter a login and you
do not shut down IE and/or your PC, you will continue to have access

Thanks to you both for your responses. Tom: The problem persists after
rebooting. I still have not had any luck resolving this issue. My
account is a Linux account hosted by GoDaddy. I've been reading over
the GoDaddy literature but have found nothing yet. Next step is to call
tech support...
