Windows XP is not an email client.
Windows XP is an Operating System.

It "comes with" Outlook Express, which does not have a true "out of office"
feature.
Office XP/Office 2003 Professional DOES come with Outlook, which has a true
"out of office" feature, but I think with coordination with the server only.

With both, you could setup rules to process your email and reply to email
automatically with whatever you wanted, but the rules would require you to
have your computer on, online, and the email client open 24/7 while you were
away - checking your email and processing it.

Check with tech support for your ISP (or for whatever company handles the
email server that you normally use). If available (not a common feature),
it needs to be setup - usually from a page at their website.

If this for a work email address (on the company's email servers), contact
the IT folks there to see what they setup for you.
