If I plug in a Barton XP 2500+ (333FSB) CPU and it works, well great.

If it doesn't, I should be able to underclock it to run at 266 and will that
still be faster than my current 1400 ?

If the board can run the Barton 2500+ and it's set to a 266 bus it would
run at 1467MHz (133.33 x 11).

If it's an unlocked CPU and your board supports multiplier adjustments
you may be able to run it with a higher multiplier (133x12.5) or do a
wire in the socket mod to change the default CPU settings.
