You could use a bar code font to print bar codes in a spreadsheet
however bar code fonts are generally difficult to work with because
bar codes require special start and stop characters and any type of
bar code other than Code 39 also requires a check digit to be
calculated and added to the bar code message. Fonts cannot do any of
this automatically and they also produce poor quality bar codes.
If you want high quality bar codes that will be readable every time
and you want a tool that will add start and stop codes as well as
check digits for you automatically, then you are better off using a
bar code ActiveX control. The best one on the market is available at:
http://www.taltech.com/TALtech_web/products/activex_barcodes.html

Visit the above URL and download the demo version of the bar code
ActiveX control. The demo comes with a sample Excel spreadsheet that
will demonstrate how to use it with Excel.
