Bar Graph vacation tracker

My request my challenge the MVPs. I use A2002 for the 500+ people in
my department. However to track who's on vacation or away on business
I use an excel spreadsheet (tabs sorting by management and divisions)
with the names down the column and dates across. I then fill in L for
leave, T for training, etc. The bar graph is convienent for a quick
glance of who is where. At the bottom of the spreadsheet I calculate
some totals and percentages so as to manage the total workforce
available. Needless to stay, its very time consuming. I'd like to
just enter start/stop dates and a code for what they're doing.

Any ideas on how to craft an underlying query and use either a bar
graph or some other convention to get the visual affect?
