Hi all! Tnx to Sharon et al...have been able to send SOME e-mail but still rcv
reports of "modem driver inadequate for use with Lucent Win Modem"
When I try to follow up on this, all the refs seem to be saying I need a
updated version but I have an 8.3 which I thot WAS updated. If it's any clu
I am usually unable to send e-mail from "write/compose" or into websit
"reply/contact" screens but CAN send by preparing in word processor an
pasting to "write"

Only other major plague is long lines appearing "ok" on windows xp pr
monitor but running off page about 1-1 /2" at right margin of printer. I
an old Nec Pinwriter P3200. Do I need to junk or can it be made compatible
Seems to be lot worse when there are graphics in left margin which cause
text to indent that extra inch

in regards to the modem driver is that 8.30(agere right.)is
not tested by microsoft for use in the windows xp machine
and you may experience problems (or not) . 8.28 is the
latest certified driver for your modem. but 8.30 does seem
to resolve an issue with an abnormal reading of upload
speed. try your speed test at dslreports.com/tools and
go to speed test. and check your actual line speed. also
56k.com has lots of info about modems and over ride codes
for diss-connects over line noise.

Dave is familiar with your modem and has already steered you towards
the right resources. For the printing - if your printer supports
"landscape" mode, try that to avoid the cut off text. If no luck,
copy/paste to a word processor. Save and then print. After printing,
you can delete the saved file if you no longer want it.
