Badly rendered fonts in XP ?

Hi,
Not sure if anyone could help, but I seem to have an issue with fonts
that are badly rendered in Windows XP - this is pretty much everywhere
(Mozilla, the folders, etc...). I assume that this has nothing to do
with my screen, as screenshots from the net show perfectly formed
fonts.
The issue is not massive, it is just infuriating.

Has anyone met this problem before ? and what could I do to fix it ?

Try Start/control panel/Display/Appearance/Effects and make sure Clear Type
is selected second box down.
