bad update.

i went to the update site and i downloaded an update SP1
or something like that and it said it was for better
security but now that it's installed the only noise my
computer will make is from the update. it wont let me
adjust the volume and no other sounds will work. what
should i do?

It sounds like Windows Update gave you an updated audio driver, which
appears to have broken things.

If you can't uninstall the update, try using System Restore. If that isn't
possible, check with your system manufacturer for an updated audio driver
for your sound card/processor.
