I have bad sectors on my hard drive and can tell a
difference in performance of my XP operating system is
there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Hello

Yes replace your harddrive, if you have a bad block then
that block is bad, you can try a low level format or just
replace the drive, in which you will have to reload windows
and you can use Norton's Ghost

Backup your data ASAP and then go shopping for a replacement disk. Did I
mention backup your data.

A few bad sctors is actually fairly common, even on otherwise good hard
drives. however, if the number of bad sectors increases with time, then get
a new disk, fast.

XP has the ability to "avoid" using bad sectors, if they are marked as such.
Run CHKDSK C: /R, sya "Y" when asked, and reboot. This may take a long time
(hours).
