My hard drives have a tendancy to develop Bad Sectors after using them
for a few months. My first HD, a Seagate, developed them after close
to a year of ownership. After that incident I replaced the surge
protector with a new one, and this time purchased a Maxtor HD.
The Maxtor drive was Win2000 based, but the bad sectors keep me from
running the OS. So im currently using the Win98 that was already on
there. My questions are, 1-)Does anyone think there might be a problem
with my motherboard which is causing the errors? 2-)Does anyone have
any suggestions aside from gasoline and a match for helping my bad
sector problems? 3-) If I re-partition my drive but only use the half
that isnt corrupted, will the current bad sectors spread anyway and
cause more damage?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
