Bad sector scanner & recovery.

I go to properties & tools for C drive, I place a
check mark in: "scan for and attempt recovery of
bad sectors." For the past 2 years, that's taken
roughly 20 minutes, last week it took 3 hours and
35 minutes! Any suggestions as to what caused this.

It probably found a bad sector (or more) and tried to recover what was
there. Previous to this, it's probably just been scanning and not finding
any bad sectors.

Finding a bad sector once isn't a big deal, but if they start popping up
regularly, it's time to think abut a new hard drive.
