Bad printout on one printer

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem:

I have a report that prints out exactly as I expect on some printers, but on
an HP5si in my office, it comes out with a large (about 4" X 6") black box
on the page, while the rest of the report looks fine. The report is very
closely patterned after another report I designed, and that other report
works fine on the HP5si.

I have picked the bad report apart, deleting controls and labels until the
box goes away, and re-creating the missing items (not copying them back, but
making them from scratch). As I rebuild the report, some of the text box
borders get strange, text fields move to different places on the form, and
eventually, the big black box comes back. The printer drivers are
up-to-date. I am running Access 2000 on a Windows 2000 platform, connected
to the printer via corporate intranet.

Please post if you have had this problem, or if you have any suggestions for
me.

TIA

No. The printer is part of a large network, and the configuration of the
network is out of my control. I don't have any administrative rights on my
workstation, either.

I am also unfamiliar with what you mean by alternate drivers. Are there
third-party drivers available for HP (in this case, for example) printers?
Do they perform better than the proprietary drivers? This is new to me.

Thanks for posting.
