Bad Pool Header need help

I have been working on my grandaughters computer for the past couple days
trying to get it up and running on the net again. Thru this board I have
been able to fix everything and it was running good until microsoft
downloaded the updates. Her computer has been down since Aug, so there were
a lot of updates, including IE7. As I was checking out the internet, I got a
stop blue screen message, then it went to another blue screen with a Bad Pool
Header error message. I have search this site for other messages, but there
were only two and they didn't help.
I'm using windows firewall and Avast virsus scanner and have removed all
other start up files.
Looking in the event errors, where there is a long list from yesterday after
windows updated, just about every error list AVG7 core, AmdK7 and Fips. I
removed the AVG virus program and I think AMDK7 is the bio, but I don't know
what Fips is. I need help bad.

If you can read the errors, you can use the system to remove the problem
updates. The Add/remove app has a checkbox for 'show updates.'

If you determine that an update is the problem, you can choose to both
uninstall, and after setting the system to not automatically install updates,
the "Custom" option has a checkbox for 'don't ask again'

I have removed the last 2 updates out of 16 with no help yet to solve the
problem.
The stop error message says
stop (0x00000019,0x00000020,0x81CD79A8,0X81CD7AE0,0X1A2700004)

Do you have any idea what that means. Having to remove one by one the
updates, then reboot twice will take me all day.
 
I know of no other way to find out what update is fighting with your
particular set of hardware components. There are so many different platforms,
no one really knows.

Did you tries to Restore to before the Updates took place?.

FIPS: Federal Information Processing Standards (I'm not telling Fips ) LOL.
Or: Finnish Inverse Problems Society
Can you open the local search and search for Fips.exe or just Fips.

Open a Notepad, customize or minimize to the taskbar as you will need it
later for this step to copy the error message on it.
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.
click on each of these:
Application
System
Security
Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow
exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the
causer.
On the Event error properties message you will see:
Up Arrow
Down arrow
Two pages
Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad
you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from
the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.
Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.

I wish I had read your answer sooner, as I worked most of day removing
updates one by one, resetting, then resetting back to safe mode to remove
another. Finally after the 7th removal I thought about doing a restore. I
don't know why I didn't think of it sooner, but it worked and everything was
singing along again. So I updated each that I had removed and tested to make
sure it didn't happen again. No problems so far. Now all I need to do is
clean out all the junk files and defrag . Sometimes the answer is simple,
but we make it differcult. Thanks for you help.

Glad you got it sorted, make sure to scan for malware and viruses first then
try the cleaning up and defrag.

Go through these cleaning steps to see or get a clear opinion on how
clean your machine is:
= Click Start >> Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections >> Double
click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.

you that the chkdsk will start on Reboot, would you like it to run on
Reboot/Restart, please click [YES] and Reboot your machine.

Hi Trisha,
No, windows firewall will not totally protect you from inbound traffics, so
best if you install a Commercial firewall if you are doing business on this
machine and you are a heavy Internet surfer!.
The three most recommneded Free Firewall are below, but if you want a
commercial they do a commercial one too and other Vendor like Mcafee, Norton,
Kaspersky, CA, Avast, NOD32, Trend Micro, Avira, AVG, DRweb, Sophos,
BITDefender..etc.

Hello All,
Ran into the same problem myself with almost (if not the) same error
message. It was on my gaming Puter (Foxconn 655AO1-FX-6LRS, 2.4
Pentium) and came up when I was flight Simming after a few minutes
into the game. Started removing/swapping hardware (i.e. Kbrds, memory,
Joystick,etc.) after updating all drivers first proved null. I had
purchased and installed a Diamond 7.1 Extreme sound card about 6
months ago and have played very little on this puter since. As soon as
the card was removed the problem went with it! Glad I didn't start
undoing software as this machine has over 2 years worth of installs to
MS Flight 2004 and would take about 6 months of hard work reinstalling
everything to run smooth. I suspect the real problem lies with the
Foxconn board, since no info / bios updates can be found on their
site. This board is about 2 years old, maybe 3. I had suspected it was
a memory module i had put in about the same time as the sound card but
removing that did nothing to improve things. I believe I will be
retiring that Mobo and upgrade to a 945 chipset so I can run OS X and
XP on 1 machine.
Not sure if any of this info will help but figured I would chime in
since I ran across this post while seeking help for my ownself.
