Bad Image Exception when opening mail with scripts

New computer running Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail. Get an error that says "Bad Image" and the exeption below using Windows Mail when I open posts in a stationery Newsgroup containing scripts. I have no trouble viewing these on other computers running XP and Outlook Express.

What I've done to try to remedy:
Installed additional .dll's as suggested by stationery NG experts-still get error
Changed IE7 security settings to ALLOW everything - still get error
Shut down anti-virus apps temporarily - still get error (using AVG Free)
Installed different anti-virus program (Norton 360) - still get error
Shut off email monitoring in anti-virus programs - still get error

Strange thing, sometimes when I shut down Windows Mail and open it again, the error doesn't happen until I shut it down and open it again and then it is back - mystifying!

Here is the message in the Bad Immage error box:

I don't know of any "Bad Image" error message from WinMail. I suspect its from another program running in the background. I would uninstall all the antivirus junk you have on there and then remove your mail account and then close and reopen WinMail and then see if it works. Also, if you start mixing dlls from other OSs, then you should expect to then find many problems. They weren't included in Vista for a reason.

Hi, Steve. I remember you from the stationery newsgroups. Good to see you.

Actually, I should have mentioned that the error dialogue box says
Windows-Bad Image on the title bar. The "Bad Image" error was happening
before I installed the dlls. I uninstalled AVG Free and still had the
problem but I didn't remove my email account. I'll try that.
The Dlls are a dillemma. Without them I wouldn't be able to view the
scripts anyway, so I might as well forget it on the Vista computer.

Strange thing is that if I boot my computer and open WinMail immediately to
view scripts, they don't work. If I wait a while before I open WinMail or
close WinMail and open it back up again, they work. It's as if something is
not loading right away. Could it be the Dlls?

Hi Dianne,

No that's not the dlls doing that. I'm not sure what it could be. Vista
needs some breaking in time and it could be related to that.

People are having problems with AVG. You might uninstall it and get
something else. I think AVAST is free. But you still have to turn off
email scanning.

Scripting is separate from the dll's you are introducing. Scripting works
fine if you have WinMail in the Internet zone. Most of the messages in the
Stationery NG render fine for me without adding external dll's. Those
mostly provide the direct animation functions that MS removed for "security"
purposes.
