I've tried to backup some documents from bad HDD and when I connect it
to my PC but BIOS has not recognized the HDD and after that I've
disconnected the HDD but now my dvd drive does not work any more. Is
there any chance to the dvd drive work again? Thanks

A few suggestions:

Check the cables - perhaps something is loose.

Maybe the power supply is on its way out - the hard drive perhaps didn't
fail, but the power was bad!

Maybe it is a software issue in windows - you have removed a drive, so
perhaps drive letters are wrong. Go to Control Panel -> Administrative
Tools -> Computer Management -> Hard Disk Management and check all drives
have a drive letter.

If you connected it on the same cable and there is some kind of short
caused by the drive I suppose it could damage other equipment. I have
had controllers go out on a motherboard but this was for a floppy drive.
You might try it on another computer or on another controller.

It is quite common for the drive cable to become partially unplugged from
the motherboard when cables are moved around from drive to drive.

With the power off, make sure the drive cable connector is seated all the
way into the motherboard connector.

A bent a pin on the motherboard drive cable connector or on the actual drive
in question would be my second choice.

If you had the cable all the way off of the DVD drive, make sure that the
cable is actually plugged into the connector the right way. The Pin 1 on
the motherboard connector (usually red stripe on ribbon cable) going to pin
1 on the DVD connector.

Trying a replacement drive cable would not be out of the realm of
possibilities.

It is possible to burn out a drive interface if the bad drive had an actual
short in it. A replacement hard drive interface card would take care of
that kind of problem.
