After upgradng to SP4, the sound went bad. There is a lot
of crackling, static and popping coming from the
speakers. It is somewhat commensurate with the hard drive
movement and/or the mouse moving, but not always. Also,
newer mp3's played in the 9.0 media player are out of
phase and it seems like there is a speed issue. Older
mp3's and wav files play fine. Note, that all mp3's play
corectly in Winamp 2.91 (everything sounds good). But
when you are not playing a song, the popping and crackling
are enough to drive you nuts (I'm currently keeping the
speakers off). It seems like there a conflict somewhere,
or sime type of timng issue, but I have yet been able to
find anything.
Note that I own a Gateway Laptop with a Yamaha sound
card. I also have a wireless USB pod (linksys) on the
laptop. The sound problem is present with or without the
wireless connection plugged in.
Any insight to a solution would be appreciated.
