I've always found it surprising how folk can eat cockles, whelks and winkles as well, I mean, they all look quite disgusting don't they?

Yes, one of the closest relatives of shrimps and prawns are woodlice.

It seems, however, that woodlice are not insects but a type of crustacean.

Woodlouse fried rice sounds good to me.
