I know this is a od questions, but does any one know if a
backwards migration from Windows 2003 AD to Windows 2000
AD will work? Will the migration tool work or will all
objects have to be recreated in the 2000 AD?

Wes,

You can not do this without doing this from a backup of the 'WIN2000' system
state.

I would have to wonder outloud why you are asking to do this. WIN2003 gives
you a lot of nice improvements ( from what I have read...have not played
with it that much yet ). Is there a specific issue that you are having with
WIN2003???

As long as you have not gone to Native 2003 then you should be able to
transfer all roles to a 2000 server and then demote the 2003 DC. You will
still have the 2003 scheme. HTH

Paul,

I have not really touched WIN2003 that much. Are you saying that I could
install a WIN2000 Server, run dcpromo on it to promote it as an additional
Domain Controller in an existing domain and then simply transfer the roles
over to that WIN2000 Domain Controller and dcpromo the WIN2003 Domain
Controller? Solong as the forest / domain are not in WIN2003 Native.

That does not seem to be that difficult! And a much better solution than
what I posted.

Thank you, Paul.
