I am looking at upgrading. All of my clients have 2003. When I do a
project, they need to see it. Can I save projects in 2007 that can be read
in 2003?

Tom,
Best thing to do is to save the presentation on your computer as a
Powerpoint 97-2003 (*.ppt) presentation. In the save as list you will find
that option.
Also, if you use some of the new features like the fancy picture formatting
possibilities, they will not be editable in
PPT 2003 as those features are not supported in the lower version.

Yes you can. The default saving in 2007 is .pptx.
You can choose to save a presentation created in 2007 as .ppt, which can be
opened and viewed in PowerPoint 97 - 2003. (Take note though, that graphics
such as SmartArt will become image when converted to .ppt format, hence, they
cannot be edited if you open the file in PowerPoint 2003 or lower.)

Alternately, the receiver can choose to download the free PowerPoint Viewer
2007:

I have some screenshots embedded as BMPs in the PPT 2007. However when I
covert this into PPT 2003 the screenshots do not appear when the document is
opened in Powerpoint 2003.

I faced the same problem when I copied some screens as background from an
existing Captivate file.

Can you help?

Does the 2003 system have all service packs installed?

How are you "converting" to a PPT 2003 file? Are you just opening the PPTX
(2007 format) in 2003? (You'd need the compatibility pack installed on the
2003 system for this, of course.) Or are you using Office Button | Save As |
97-2003 (PPT extension) file?
