Ladies/Gentlemen

i have a major delima/headache i think approaching fast.

i'm installing a new server and 8 workstations for a client, the server
won't be ready till the end of the month, so i need to throw in the
workstations so the staff can at least work locally with word/excel
etc...(they are currently using 1 286 computer amongst the employees)

the server software will be win2003 standard w/10 cal
workstations will have w2k pro OEM version
office xp SBE OEM version

all the machines are identical in hardware/memory/hd/video etc

what i was planning to do, to save major time is to build 1 hard disk with
all the software, settings etc, then clone it to the other 7 hard drives.
this means they would all have the same w2k serial number, but i guess with
office xp, i can manually enter each individual licence number when i test
and activate the software.

once the server gets in and the win 2003 is installed i can move the
workstations for the standalone "workgroup" to the new domain

is this ok, or do you think Microsoft will have a sh$t, if the clients call
for support. i do have the 8 copies of w2k and office xp licenses and cd's

any advice or guidance appreciated

thanks in advance
Peter

There are two issues here: 1) Licensing and 2) Activation

1) Licensing should be fine. You have the documentation that says you
have purchased the 8 workstation licenses and you should have the 8
certificates of authenticity. No sweat.

2) I have no clue. Haven't touched XP myself yet, so no idea how this
works. If you don't get any help on this NG, try
microsoft.public.winxp.setup_deployment.

Good Luck!
