I am trying to backup my D hard drive to C. I have Win 98
on C and Win XP on D. I want a backup of each on the
other drive. When I try to backup from D to C the backup
stops when it gets to 4 gigs saying there is a 4 gig
limit. I need to backup 6 gigs. How do I get around this
limit??

XP has imposed a 4GB limit for a file when using FAT32. Since Windows 98 is
using FAT32, you are out of luck in creating only one file.

Dave, don't know what application your using for backup but I use Drive
Image and it gets around the 4gig limit by writing multiple image files, all
tied together and it works great.

Dave,

Another simple solution would be to use a program such as
Symantec's "Norton Ghost 2003". If you have a CDRW or DVD
drive you can write a disk. If not, Ghost will allow you
to create an image file and save it to a hard disk drive.

So, it can be done. You will just have to use a 3rd party
software program to achieve your results.
