backup

Sometimes it can take quite a while, depending on the speed, what media you
are using, and how much information is being backed up. As long as your
system is still showing activity, it's fine.

I seem to be having the same problem zcichon is having.
I am trying to backup my desktop (Vista SP1) to my laptop (Vista) over the
network using the Vista backup utility. The program does the shadow thing,
collects files on the desktop, starts to send them to the laptop then sits
with the "transfering files" screen for hours, I left it running last night
and had the same progress with the file transfer this morning.When I attempt
to stop the backup the screen just stays with the "stopping backup" on it.
The task bar icon for backup still says "file backup is running". The only
way to actuallly stop the backup is a re-boot.
I have tried the backup on the laptop (Vista) with the same results.
I just had an on-line chat session with Vista SP1 support to no avail as
they said they were not equipped to handle backup problems only OS issues.
I am using the following hardware:
Desktop = Intel Core2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz 900MHz, Memory 2.00GB, Vista Home
Premium 32 bit, hard wired to Belkin F5D8233-4 router.
Laptop = HP Pavillion Dv 9700, AMD Turion 64 X 2 TL-60 2.0 GHz, Memory 1983
MB, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, wireless to Belkin F5D8233-4 router.
Any help would be appreciated as this is the first backup attempt.
