I had a major crash and lost everything, and am now
trying to backup in case it should happen again. When I
try to copy to a floppy, I get a message saying it can't -
invalid path or something. Help!

Too bad you lost everything, but the really important thing is that you're
now backing up regularly. That's a good thing. Backup often and you'll
always be protected against disaster.

If you want help with an error message you need to post the entire message
accurately. We don't know what "or something" means. But wait -- you're not
really backing up to floppies? A floppy is only good for a limited number of
simple documents. What are you going to do about your email? favorites?
music and pictures? To say nothing about your Windows installation.

You need to backup to CDs (or DVDs) and you need to backup your entire
system. That way, you needn't fear losing anything ever again. I can restore
my entire system partition (Windows and all my installed software) in less
than 6 minutes. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Backup can get a little complex, but you don't have to worry about all that
right now. The important thing is to start. As you gain more experience
you'll be able to perform increasingly complete backups. Here's a great
place to start, from the Microsoft web site:
