Hello

Regarding a backup program; I see pricelessware has 3 or so programs. I
have also heard polder backup is a good one. Is there a certain program
that the group has been using lately?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

Over the past few weeks I have tried the following.

Karen's Replicator
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptreplicator.asp
This one keeps the most detailed logs of what it did. It can be set to run
on a schedule.

Cobian Backup
http://www2.educ.umu.se/~cobian/prog.htm
This can be run as a service or as an application. This too can be set to
run on a schedule.

Polder Backup

This is the one I am currently experimenting with. I like the report
function that tells you what needs to be backed-up. Its also very detailed
in showing you its progress during a back-up. Unfortunately I haven't been
able to find a way to set a schedule for it.

Thanks for the info. I'll test them ASAP.

My problem is finding one that knows what system and vital files to
backup regularly in my Windows XP Pro, so that in case of a screw up,
I'd still able to replace corrupted files and save me from the hassle
of reinstalling the platform plus all applications.

You could use Polder, Cobian or Replicator to make copies of your work, and
use System Restore to recover from any serious screw ups.

Don't know what you're backing up *to*, but I and many others in this
group use this one:
