How do I back up my database with Access 2000. I do not
have the Tools, Database Utilities, Back up. (Back up is
not in the available features). I want to ensure that my
data will not be lost. I have transfered my data in SQL
format and saved that part. But I want the database to
update the data daily.

Any ideas?

Michelle

Backing up an Access database should be part of your normal network backup
operations. It should be handled just like any other file on your computer
or network. There is no backup feature in Access.

Remember, Access isn't like SQL Server or Oracle - it's not a server based
database. It is file based. If you are just trying to make a quite easy
backup, simply make a copy of the mdb file using windows explorer.

Well, there is a backup feature in Access 2003. (File, Backup database ...).
But I do agree that backup is a job best left to specialized backup
software.

yeah, sorry, should have specified there is no backup option in Access
2000 - the version Michelle was asking about.

Hi Michelle,
Like Brendan says it would be easier to use a specialized software to do
that. I recommend you to try Backup4all, http://www.backup4all.com , it will
allow you to schedule a backup job for your database and after a full backup
you can let it do daily incremental backups(it will only add the things that
changed) and you would spare some time and, in case the database is large,
some space.
I would also recommend you to do the backup on an external hard drive or a
CD/DVD, not on the same hard drive.
