Backup XP Pro?

I keep getting an error message telling me the file name I select for backup
is not valid or I don't have access. I'm trying to back up the entire
contents of my laptop to my CD drive. I've heard that backup will only work
with CD-RW. Is that correct? Or can I make a backup copy on CD-R disks.

I also notice that several files on the backup select list are grayed out.
I don't know why, and can't seem to change that.

I have administrator rights.

Can anybody help me out?

With ntbackup included with XP? That probably means you're trying to use
an optical drive as the target.

It's actually backwards. ntbackup can NOT back up to CDRW.

It can write to tape drives, though.

If you are doing a full backup with ASR, you *must* also have a floppy
drive. ASR will not proceed without that.
