I have a ton of songs in my Media Player database now
sorted by genre and it took quite a while What file can
I backup so if I ever lose the information I can restore
it with the files?

Thank you
Norman

Open WMP>Tools>Manage Licenses>Backup licenses now to a CD-R or
wherever you want to store them but not on your harddrive, so you may
restore them if needed.

For WMP 9 &10, the actual database location is described here:
http://www.zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary

However, if WMP has write access to your files, then it will update tags
in the files themselves. The actual process and extent is not
documented, but it appears that (a) not everything WMP presents to the
user is written to the files; and (b) anything not written to the files
will not survive a WMP upgrade, or the ever-frequent database corruption
that is reported on this newsgroup.
