Our company recently choose ComVault as our backup
solution. The ComVault consultant suggesting excluding
the DNS database from the real-time backup, and just do an
export of the database to a file, and have that backed
up. That raises 2 questions:

1. How can you export the DNS database?
2. Does the ComVault Engineer's advice sound like a best
practice?

Sometimes it's easier to have an additional DNS server with a secondary copy
of the zone, so there's always a copy elsewhere you can revert to.

If the zone is AD Integrated, then it's in the actual physical AD database
and as long as you do a system state backup, it's getting backed up anyway.
I would still, for best practice in your case, try a secondary zone
elsewhere.
