I'm self-employed, and I use a computer at work and one at home.

I make sure that any files which I create or amend are copied onto a Zip
Disk and then put onto the other computer, so in effect I should have
identical work files on both machines.

Most of the files I want to copy are kept in one directory, but a few
are kept in other directories.

What I need is a piece of software which I can program to search for
changed/ new files in, for example, Directories A, D and F, but not in
B, C, E and G.

Is there anything which will do this for me?

TIA

If you don't mind working with a versatile command line program, you
can easily do what you want to do with XXCOPY. Here's a link to their
web page describing the exclusion specifier:

I've not worked with a zip disk, just hard drives, but I'm guessing
the zip disk won't present any real barriers.

I think Replicator at http://www.karenware.com/ should be able to do what
you want.

Assuming you use Microsoft Windows, then why not use "Briefcase" which is
part of Windows Explorer. Start Explorer, click "File", "New" "Briefcase"

Check the Explorer Help files to see how to use it. Works OK.

If I understand you correctly, Backup4All will do what you want.
Moreover it is an excellent program. It's gone shareware; but here's a
link to the last freeware version:
