"files must be read to be backed up, and they must be written to be
restored. Backup privileges should be limited to Administrators and
Backup operators-people to whom you are comfortable giving read and
write access on all files. "
reminds me of my last job. the boss was very concerned with security,
which is a good thing, but he freaked when he found out I had access to
all the accounting information, including payroll.
He wanted to know if my account could be restricted so that I didn't have
access. I said "sure, just talk to your system administrator" to which
he replied "Aren't you the system admin?"
And I said "Yes, I am." It finally dawned on him that I probably knew
more about his business than he did (well, except for all the biology and
chemistry stuff that was the basis for our products, but I did have an
excel doc with all the formula even though I didn't know what they
meant).
In conclusion, always trust those you put in power or don't put them in
power in the first place. BTW, I couldn't help but laugh when my old
boss told me I wouldn't get a raise because they were "top heavy" on
salary, I knew he had just spent more on landscaping his home than I made
in a year. Which is why he is my "old" boss
